Happy Thanksgiving, if you celebrate the holiday.

I can't help but be struck by how people really care and strive to make a difference in the lives of others... at least  twice a year.

It's nice that they're making an effort to feed and help those who are without... but aren't those same people hungry in oh, say, July?

How about we try this: be thankful, everyday. Care about others, everyday.
Dmitriy & Brian Brian Picone, age 22, died earlier this week on 26 October 2009.

He was, apparently, teaching a class at George Mason University when it happened. He died of cardiac arrest.

Brian was a good friend to someone with whom I am very close, and this is how I came to know him.

It's a very sad situation. Not only because he was young, otherwise healthy, and had his whole life ahead of him, but because the world lost someone very valuable. Unlike a significant portion of the population, Brian thought for himself, and didn't believe something because he was told to do so. He was the definition of an open-minded person, kind, and caring person.

I'm glad I got to the chance to know him, and I wish there were more people like him.
I'm not a huge TV fan, but I do watch a few shows. One of the shows I do, from time to time, catch is Man Vs. Food on Food Network. The basis for the show is incredible. A fellow by the name of Adam travels throughout the US and eats at places which serve obscene food. When I say obscene I am referring to both the portion, and sometimes, the actual food itself.

It's as if the show literally exists to show us how tragic we've become.

During one of the shows I watched Adam eat an extremely large cheesesteak at this place in Philly called Tony Luke's. And as you might know - I am going to Philadelphia on Friday, so we thought it'd be awesome to eat at one of the places we saw on Man v. Food.  They call it the "Ultimate Cheesesteak Challenge" and if you win - you get your picture on the wall, and a t-shirt.

So let me lay it out for you here - this is what I intend to consume within one hour: 2 1/2 lbs. of beef over 1 lb. of cheese, fried onions and a 20-inch roll.
I've known my mother has been back and forth with the doctors having some tests... and she told me the other day she does, in fact, have breast cancer.

It was caught early... so hopefully that will work in her favour for treating it. She goes back to the doctor on the 22nd and will know more about her options then.

If you're a praying person, throw one in for her. I'm sure she'd appreciate it.
